There are people who would like Des Moines to have curfews for teens. This is being considered because of the many occurring shootings and that it has worked for other cities that have a curfew. Iowa City has a curfew. Their curfews for teens are 13 & younger can’t be in public places 10pm-5am; 14-15 year olds can’t be out from 11pm-5am; and 16-17 can’t be out 12am-5am. Pros are that it will probably make the crime rate during those times go down and kids will be safe at home. I feel that the cons are the freedom teens will get to have and that our money will be going to these little fees to the police which I don’t like. I feel it should be a parent’s responsibility of giving their children a crew or not. Or the child should have common since to know when it is late and they need to come home.
